Hi There!
Hi! My name is Penny and the one question I hear all the time is "how did you ever get into face painting?" For me, art has always been more than colors and shapes, it’s been a lifeline. I truly believe art saves lives, and it has certainly saved mine in more than one way and on more than one occasion.
What began as a simple love for creativity grew into a passion that I now get to share with the world every day through face painting and beyond. My journey as an artist isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection and using imagination to bring joy, spark confidence, and remind people (big and small) of all the magic they have inside themselves.
My Story
I’ve always been an artist at heart. As a kid, I dreamed of going to art school but when I told my parents, they practically went into cardiac arrest. (They survived, thankfully.) Growing up poor, the idea of pursuing art seemed impossible, so I put my brushes down. After high school, I stopped creating completely. Not one drawing, not one painting—nothing. For about 15 years, I lived a perfectly “okay” life, but looking back, I realize something was always missing. I wasn’t being true to my own magic.

Then came a trip to Disney World. Somewhere between the castles and mouse ears, I stumbled upon a face painter. I stood there for hours, completely captivated. Right then, that very day, I knew I was going to do that someday. That marked the beginning of my return to art, not on canvas, but on people.

At first, the journey wasn’t easy. I couldn’t find anyone to train me. I’d start searching, get discouraged, and give up then try again. Eventually, I found a teacher, but then came the bigger challenge of finding my confidence. I truly thought everyone was judging me and my lack of formal art education was apparent. Still, during some of my hardest times, I would pull out my paints. Painting calmed my nervous system, reminded me that I was good at something, and brought me back to myself. That feeling of peace, of being exactly where I was meant to be, inspired me to keep learning and growing.

Over a decade later, face painting has become so much more than art to me. It’s about empowering a kid to feel like a superhero, making someone smile, and adding joy to a celebration. It’s about reminding people that imagination isn’t just for children, that it’s for anyone brave enough to live a little magic. Each design may only last a moment, but collectively, I believe these moments add up to a happier world.

For me, becoming the artist I was always meant to be has given me permission to live authentically, and follow the seeds that were planted in my heart as a young child. My dream is to continue growing as an artist, to build my business so I can bring in other creatives, and to explore new mediums of expression.
I was an artist as a child, abandoned it in adulthood, and was lucky enough to find it again later in life. I don’t take that second chance lightly. I truly believe art saves lives.
I'm always looking for new and exciting opportunities. Let's connect.
